The cuboids are made of a wooden substructure upholstered in foam and fabric/ leather, embellished with a piping, while the armrest is skilfully curved with a vacuum-assisted veneer lamination process. KEYPORT ENTERPRISES A brokerage firm situated in a leased office space in a commercial high-rise building located in the central business district of Abuja. The company requested the design of two office categories: Executive and Standard. The Executive being designated for the Founder/MD and Standard Office for his subordinates, which were a total of four. Indicating interest in new age, fluid office design that makes for a lenient but productive working environment. AFP approached this request with the use of smart glass partitions to prevent the usual clustered feeling associated with confined spaces with opaque walls. The Executive Office was designed with a spacious work desk (the Wing Desk), comfortably accommodating the MD and two visitors. Additionally, a lavish lounge area was incorporated to allow him unwind when necessary. Due to spatial constraints, the office also serves as the venue for large company meetings and is equipped with an organised storage system. The Standard Offices were all designed with the Angle Desk unit and the drawer box attachment for storage. The desk accommodates the official and a single visitor. The Standard Office also boasts ample storage space and a small lounge area that make for a versatile work environment. All projects

The collection includes an ottoman that is attached to the seater to form an L-shaped sofa. The sofa is lightly ornamented with the subtle tufts mapped on the loose cushion. The tufting detail repeats itself on the ottoman with more emphasis in its depression giving its simple cuboid form more character. DANJI ABDULRAHEEM A residential project designed for a two-parent household with four teenage to adult children. The brief was for a subtly luxurious, contemporary-style house with neutral colours and hints of cool vibrant colours, mainly blue and green. During the design phase, the homeowners showed an affinity toward French wall panelling. After considering all the wants and needs of the client - the want for contemporary style but love for the classic French Boiserie, AFP decided to have a fusion of the two styles, arriving at the less ornate wall panels that are still reminiscent of the traditional French panels. The master bedroom was designed with neutral walls with the same Boiserie panelling, along with striking green headboard, in accordance with the hints of cool vibrant colours as requested by the client. This theme also repeats itself in the walk-in closet with built-in units and the kitchen, saturated with the calm blue used in some of the cabinets. The majority of the house is detailed with gold trimmings, from gold-framed artworks to sideboards and partitions storage units embellished with gold inlays and gold silk fabric, achieving the essence of subtle luxury. AFP at Design Week Lagos 2023 October 25, 2023 The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, CON, has affirmed that considering the superbly evolving designs, development, productive competence and reliability of the Abuja Furniture Production (AFP), the furniture subsidiary of Julius Berger, the company’s ever expanding clientele and happy customers are continuing to experience the company’s deliveries as a total and one-stop shop for top-end quality with regard to durable products and reliable after-sales services. Speaking at the just concluded 2023 Lagos Design Week in Lekki, Lagos, weekend, the Julius Berger Chairman said, “I must say that AFP has been growing qualitatively stronger and progressively more innovative over the past decade. The clear difference between AFP products and service offerings in the market relative to others is, to be modest, like day and night with AFP as the undisputed leader of the furniture sector frontlines. The furniture are unique. The material selections are timeless. I am impressed by them all, including the wood and stone products. With AFP’s increasingly innovative and qualitative product and service offerings, customers in the furnishing and interior decor sector have continued to experience the Julius Berger brand as a total and most reliable bouquet of premium solutions.” A regular visitor to AFP stands at various exhibitions and major stakeholder in the furniture production sector in Lagos, Akinbo Akin-Olugbade said, “AFP has no doubt grown progressively into a poster subsidiary of the Julius Berger Group’s signature of corporate and operational excellence with its unique and reliable supply of quality furniture products. Last year, the subsidiary was already the best. It stood out in products design. This year, it has come out far better.” Continuing, AkinOlugbade said the furniture range on display at the AFP stand at the Design Week Lagos Exhibition 2023 are “simply amazing and extraordinary”, adding that “…to me, the verdict here is very simple…when it comes to construction and building, Julius Berger is still the standard; and when it comes to interiors, the Julius Berger-AFP is the standard”, he declared further. Another visitor and Chief Executive of TARD Engineering Limited, Adeniyi Oduola expressed a similar viewpoint. He said, “…the furniture pieces on display here are topnotch. I am totally amazed by the finishing. Yes, because you cannot have it all in one exhibition, what I have seen here has made me decide to visit AFP’s Abuja showroom to see more options and then book for supplies.” Continuing, Adeniyi Oduola said, “For many decades previously, we only knew Julius Berger for its excellent and durable construction of roads, bridges, airports, railways, dams, and other engineering infrastructures. It is very exciting to now know and indeed see that the ever qualitative Julius Berger is also into this business of good furniture production and ancillary services.” In a brief interview, the General Manager of AFP, Oliver Cohnen disclosed that the company has continued to ensure that sustainability is key to its furniture design, production, and finishing, adding that the deliberate policy makes the difference between its products and the competition. “AFP designs and produces quality furniture that balances function with aesthetics to create spaces that connect, invite and delight”, the General Manager emphasised. Cohnen further said, “…we assess designs to understand what procurement sources, materials and methods of production are best to create a viable balance between environmental sustainability and customer satisfaction. An encapsulation of the beauty, grace and poise of the long-beaked brine shrimp-eating flamingo. The sofa takes the odd proportions of the flamingo and balances them to make a practical seating experience, drawing inspiration from their large bodies and skinny angled legs. The sofa is presented by its thin backrest that connects to the base and thick cushions reminiscent of the body of the bird. The modular sofa can be arranged to fit a myriad of settings, making it suitable for bars, public lounges, as well as residential spaces. Zuma rock, a large natural monolith situated in Madalla, Niger state. The rock has a distinctive image of a face etched into a section of its surface. It is said to be sacred by the indigenous people and it carries many stories and superstitions. The Zuma table was made with reference to the monolith. The legs replicate the base of the stone as it narrows upwards to the summit yet maintains a light appearance as a result of the space in between. These legs come in laminate or coloured lacquered while the tabletop comes in a variety of veneer and other finishes. The table could be identified with the two large columns beneath the table top. Nairobi’s distinguishable factor is its depiction of the beauty in contrast, the textural contrast between the smooth surface of the table top and the grooved surface of the two columns that stand as legs. In this case, it is angular, sharp-cornered geometry of the wood and cushion that can be appreciated from the side of the chair, along with the horizontal lines tufts on the upholstered surfaces of the seating area. The Ida Armchair, contrary to its appearance, is ergonomically sound with the promise of comfort and accentuation of any space it finds itself. The ‘C’ houses the minor profile which is anchored to the top and bottom by a vertical piece. This table is distinguished by a contrast in colour or texture, which further emphasises the individual forms. It is available in one size. KOLE CONFERENCE DESK A unification between an ellipse and a rectangle with rounded corners to form the table top which is carefully mounted on its leg. The leg frame of the Kole table is composed of a box with right trapezoids (or trapeziums) attached to its corners with their joint at the straight parts, allowing the diagonal parts of the trapezoid to project outwards. The conference table is made out of composite wood boards, finished with laminate or veneer. The table can be provided with a hub for electrical outlets for public address systems and other media equipment.
